Connect with Peers to Educate Yourself and Advocate for Yourself and Others

As part of your healing journey, we recommend that you join online communities and advocacy groups. Connecting with peers who have been through what you’re going through can provide a level of support, peace of mind, love, hope and encouragement that your well-meaning family and caregivers may not be able to give. It’s important to know and remind yourself that you’re not alone.

Online grassroots groups can be an important source of services for you and your caregivers to learn about your disease and treatment options, like Colontown, which helps people with colorectal cancer. These online communities can provide useful, specific, and timely information in ways that are easy to digest.

And you should also consider joining groups which specialize in organizing activities to accelerate development of innovative treatments for your cancer and can help you get access to them, such as the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, the Global ROS1 Initiative, the Pacific Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Consortium, and the Count Me In initiative (currently organizing research for metastatic breast cancer, metastatic prostate cancer, and angiosarcoma).

To help you connect with peers, the sections below list organizations organized by content scope:
(Specific Cancer, All Cancers, All Diseases) and by medium (Online, In-Person, or a Hybrid of the two).
